Snapchat is a popular social app that allows users to exchange pictures that typically last for 10 seconds before disappearing permanently. It also has a “Discovery” section where users can post ‘Stories” which are pictures that stay posted on one’s profile for 24 hours before being automatically deleted. This same page also includes a “News” section which holds numerous opportunities for advertisements.

Who Uses Snapchat?

Out of all social media platforms, Snapchat is the most popular among 12-17 year-olds. In the next 4 years, Snapchat is expected to add 1.2 million users in this 12-17 year-old age group, while Facebook is expected to lose 2.2 million of the same users. 90% of Snapchat users are between the ages of 13-24 and even slightly older generations use the app as well, with 54% of 25-29 year-olds also reporting they use the app.

Snapchat can be used to expand the reach of your business and allows you to target a very specific audience that otherwise could go untapped. This platform grants access to the business world that is constantly trying to bridge the gap to the younger consumer.

Ads on Snapchat can appear in several different locations across the app. They’ll pop up between Stories, within the Discover and News sections, and businesses can even create “Geofilter” and “Lens” advertisements which allow users to apply fun effects to their photos. According to Snapchat, the app reaches as much as 75% of millennials and Gen Z – this platform could be your business’ one-stop-shop for advertising to the younger consumer!
